Princess Bride :: Dolls
"Magically change me from a bride to a princess!"
Princess Bride was produced in 1995 by Mattel and consisted of two 16 inch dolls (one white, one black) dressed in the same reversible bride/princess dress and colour-change jewellery.

Dolls
There were two dolls produced, a black and a white version of the same doll. They each came with the same reversible skirt, body suit, bridal veil, vanity, necklace and crown. Surprisingly, considering they had long hair, no comb or brush was included.
Packaging
"In my shimmery pink dress, I'm a beautiful princess in a rainbow-coloured crown and necklace too! In my water filled Magic Vanity, my "pearls" turn white. With my veil and gown, I'm a sparkly bride!"
"My Magic Vanity changed my white "pearls" to rainbow colours!"
Mattel Catalogue 1995
"The doll that magically transforms from a beautiful bride to a colourful princess. She's so beautiful dressed in her white glistening wedding gown and veil. And look! she has beautiful shiny pearls. But there's more. She comes with a special vanity that opens to reveal a mirror and special compartment for her pearls. Take her pearled bodice and place it inside her vanity and watch what happens. It's now a beautiful rainbow of colours that becomes her princess crown. Put her pearlised beads inside her vanity and they change colour too! "Pearls" change from white to rainbow colours and back again with warm and icy water. Reverse her skirt and sleeves and like magic her beautiful white bridal dress becomes a pretty princess gown. Girls can share the crown and pearls that become bracelets - so they can become beautiful princess brides too. From the tip of her crown to the hem of her gown, she's the most spectacular large doll around"
"Watch her "pearls" magically change colour in her vanity."
"A beautiful colourful princess gown! Skirt and sleeves reverse to a pink princess gown."
Doll Comparison
The box back stated "from the world of Li'l Miss", but gave no further explanation. Li'l Miss ceased production in 1993, so perhaps Mattel was trying to enhance sales of their new doll by comparing it to a previously successful line which looked similar?
Comparing the dolls side by side (Princess Bride on the left), they are similar but not the same. Mattel used the same style hand mould for a lot of their dolls, and Princess Bride was no exception.
